Gingerbread Houses!
Building Gingerbread Houses
So many things go on in a Kindergarten classroom each day! One of the ways we like to share our learning with parents is to chose an event each day (almost) to share on the blog. Get updates via email by sharing your address below!

They came back!!!
Yesterday the two Kindie classes had a chance to make a gingerbread house. And when we did... all 10 gingerbread people came back! We were so excited.
When students were done with their houses, they could sit and read Christmas and Gingerbread stories.
They did a wonderful job!

Man Hunt!
Today students went on a Gingerbread man hunt... as a way to practice their heart words! The words were written on paper G-people and scattered about the Commons. Students had to find all 18. When they found one, they were to read the word and then write it down on their clipboard. There is no end to Gingerbread fun!!

Strategy Game
We are finishing up a geometry unit right now. Today children had a chance to play a shape strategy game. The last one to be able to put in a piece wins. They enjoyed the game! The more they played, the more they figured out strategies to do better in the game.

Guards
Today the children found the fox covered with cookie crumbs and smelling of ginger and cinnamon! And cookies are still missing! We have guards keeping the fox in the Take a Break spot and detectives with clipboards collecting clues!

Morning Choices
I am just amazed at how much the students have grown already this year. Yesterday morning they were all actively engaged in good morning choices. Everyone was getting along, sharing, and including other students. I was so proud I had to capture it!

Gingerbread House
Our Gingerbread People are running away! We keep finding them everywhere all over the building. Today we even found one that had been to the Public Library! He had a picture of himself there reading a book!!!!
We have been brainstorming ideas to try and keep our Gingerbreads safe from the fox. Our best idea was to turn our Kindergarten classrooms into gingerbread houses. We hope that way the people will feel comfortable here and stay put!

Gingerbread Mischief
'Tis the season for Gingerbread Mischief at Discovery Elementary. There are 10 cardboard gingerbread people. But, just like in the book, they like to 'run, run as fast as they can'! We keep finding them in different spots in the school. One was even in the lost and found box!
The class is listening to the story "Gingerbread Pirates".
There are 10 gingerbread people in all.
We figure out how many are missing and how many are left.
The Gingerbread Dolls are guarding the FOX!
Ooops!
A whole week went by without my posting anything! How did that happen??? It sure seems that time goes into hyper speed this month of the year. I will try and do better!!!!
