Morning Drop-offs

Please remember that children are not to be dropped off at school until after 8:30.  My class has had many students coming earlier and earlier to school.  There is no guaranteed supervision earlier than that.  Teachers are often in meetings.  Please be respectful of the quiet time the school needs to prepare a good day of learning for your child.

Thank you!!!

A Favorite Snack

We sure love apples!  This is the most popular thing we have for snack hands down!  Thank you for bringing them in all washed and ready to go!

Spring Field Trip! Save the Date!

Greetings, Families!

We are excited to travel to the Science Museum of Minnesota on Friday, Apr 24, 2015!  Each classroom will be able to bring 12 chaperones.

*Look for the permission slip along with chaperone sign up form when we return from Spring Break!

A few of the exhibits we will be viewing include:

*We Move and We Stay: This exhibit displays objects, old and new, which evoke a purpose and a story of the Dakota and Ojibwe people in a place now called Minnesota. Objects include both contemporary and traditional beadwork, dolls and a birch-bark canoe.

*Dinosaur and Fossil Gallery:  The Dinosaurs and Fossils Gallery amazes with world-class pre-historic dinosaur and fossil displays and interactive exhibits.

*Experimental Gallery:  The Experiment Gallery is all about hands-on experience, providing exhibits and activities that let you take on the role of a scientist to test and explore the worlds of physical science and mathematics.

We are excited to explore, ask questions, observe and experience science on this fun filled learning field trip!

Warmly,
The DES K-2 Teachers

Field Trip to Europe??

Today the K-2 classrooms are beginning a study of our seven continents:  North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and Antarctica.  Your child will spend one half hour on each 'continent' with a different teacher.  They will learn about some of the people, customs, and geography of that continent.

Your child has a passport that will be stamped every time they visit a new continent.

Today your children go to Europe in Ms. Grams' classroom!
